Knowing how to choose jewellery boxes is essential for any business in the sector. A good box doesn’t just protect the piece — it shapes how the customer perceives your brand and the value of the product, conveying quality, professionalism and trust.
Why choosing the right box matters
The box is the first thing your customer touches. A well-made presentation box turns an ordinary purchase into an experience and justifies a higher price point, while a flimsy one undermines even the finest jewellery.
Types of jewellery boxes
Different pieces call for different boxes:
Ring boxes
Ideal for wedding bands, engagement rings and small pieces. They are usually compact with a padded interior. See our ring boxes.
Necklace boxes
Designed to prevent tangles and hold the piece in place, they tend to be longer and flatter. Browse our necklace boxes.
Earring boxes
They hold the pair securely and make presentation effortless, keeping studs and hooks perfectly in place.
Set boxes
Perfect for complete jewellery sets, with room for a coordinated ring, necklace and earrings.
The most-used materials
- Cardboard: light, economical and easy to brand.
- Leatherette: an elegant, hard-wearing premium finish.
- Velvet: a soft, luxurious touch for high-end pieces.

Getting the size right first time
Measure the piece as it will sit, not flat: a pendant with its chain takes up more room than it looks, and a ring with a tall setting needs interior height, not just diameter. Note the length, width and height of the piece and look for a case with one or two centimetres of clearance at the base and free space above so the lid closes without pressing.
Check the interior too. A ring slot that is too wide leaves the piece tilted; a cushion that is too firm marks the chain. If you sell several types of jewellery, three well-chosen sizes beat eight half-right ones: fewer references, better buying and a more coherent counter.
Materials and interiors: what changes in use
Lined board offers the best balance of price and image and takes logo stamping well. Faux leather withstands daily handling in store and carries more perceived value. Velvet-effect foam interiors hold the piece in place and make product photography easier; plush velvet feels softer but flattens sooner under heavy use.
If the case will travel by courier, prioritise a firm closure and rigid structure; if it will sit in a display cabinet, prioritise the finish. You can see the real differences across the luxury boxes range and compare them with cardboard boxes when budget leads.
