Black Friday jewellery sales are now the real start of the Christmas season. Many customers buy December’s gifts that weekend, comparing shop windows and open browser tabs, and the temptation is to compete on price alone.
The discount itself is not the problem; the problem is when it shows on the jewellery. If a reduced piece leaves in any old bag or arrives in improvised packaging, it looks like clearance stock, including to the person who receives it as a gift. Here is how to use packaging to sell bundles, raise your average order value and prepare the campaign in time.
Why packaging matters more on Black Friday
Shoppers compare more than ever, and between two similar offers the better-presented one wins. Much of what sells that weekend is bought as a gift, and a gift is judged when it is opened, not when it is paid for. And the discount is information for the buyer, not for the recipient: the reduced price should never be visible on the box.
During the promotion, every piece is presented just as it is on any other day, or better. The offer changes; the perceived quality does not.
Bundles and sets: which case or box suits each offer
Bundles sell more pieces without touching your reference price per item, but each type needs its own format:
- Earrings and pendant set: a set case with a single insert, not two cases held together with an elastic band. That way it looks like a designed piece, not a job lot.
- 2-for-1 or 3-for-2: each piece in its own case, because they are often gifts for different people, and one bag per gift.
- Gift with purchase: a small format from the same line, such as a gift envelope or a little box in your brand colour. It should feel like a gesture, not surplus stock.
Consistency is what counts. In our luxury jewellery boxes by collection, the formats of each model share the same finish, so the bundle and the single piece are clearly the same brand.
Raise the order value with gift wrapping, not a lower price
Before deepening the discount, think about what you could add: thoughtful gift wrapping protects your margin better than a bigger reduction.
One option is to include gift presentation above a minimum spend: the piece in its case, inside a luxury paper bag and finished with personalised ribbons bearing your shop’s name. You reward the bigger basket without touching the price, and your brand travels all the way to the table where the gift is opened.
Another is gift vouchers: many people buy now what they will give weeks later, and a voucher inside a jewellery gift envelope looks as special as a case. You bring Christmas sales forward without the present looking like a bargain.
In-store and online: two different moments
In a physical shop, packaging works at the counter: watching the purchase being prepared offsets any sense of a markdown. Have everything assembled before you open, because there will be no time on Saturday.
Online, the parcel the customer receives is your shop window. Think in two layers: the case, which presents the jewellery, and shipping boxes for online jewellery orders, which protect it on delivery networks that are overloaded in those weeks. Inside, a thank-you card works better than a reminder of the offer. Many Cyber Monday orders will be put aside for Christmas, so they must arrive ready to give.
What to prepare and when: the Black Friday 2026 timeline
This year Black Friday falls on Friday 27 November and Cyber Monday on Monday 30 November. Working backwards:
In October, decide on promotions and formats, and order single-unit samples of the exact model: you will see whether the set fits the case, whether two cases fit in the bag and whether the colour works.
With a logo, allow 7 to 21 days from payment (hot foil stamping is carried out in Spain), so your order must be confirmed by the first week of November at the latest; ideally by the end of October, leaving time to assemble and photograph your bundles.
Without a logo, delivery takes 2-5 days in Spain and 4-9 days in the rest of Europe, but it is wise to restock in mid-November rather than in promotion week. The minimum order ranges from 12 to 100 units depending on the collection, with volume discounts of 5, 10 and 15%: combining Black Friday and Christmas in one order may take you into a better tier. For the rest of the season, see our Christmas packaging order calendar for jewellers.
Mistakes that make your promotion look like a clearance sale
- Sticking the discount label on the box. The recipient will see the reduction; the promotional price belongs on the display or the product page.
- Switching to cheaper packaging for those days. Anything different from your usual packaging reads as a clearance sale.
- Improvising bundles with elastic bands or loose pieces in a large box.
- Running out of bags on Saturday. Count per sale, not per customer: a 2-for-1 bought for two people needs two.
- Forgetting shipping boxes just as online orders peak.
A strong Black Friday in jewellery is not won with the biggest discount but with the best-presented offer. Order single-unit samples of the formats that suit you, check the minimum order, samples and branding conditions for each collection and, if you are torn between two cases, tell us about your campaign and we will help you choose.
